MUSD Summer Success Program Receives Award of Excellence!
Marana Unified School District’s Summer Success Program was recognized with the Out-of-School Time Award of Excellence. Selected by an independent panel of judges from the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence, this award spotlights an organization, department, program or individual program site’s excellence. Summer programs were recognized at the following schools that provide Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC programs:
- Butterfield Elementary
- DeGrazia Elementary
- Estes Elementary School
- Picture Rocks Elementary
- Quail Run Elementary School
- Roadrunner Elementary School
Joshua Bayne, Executive Director of State and Federal Programs, shared how the award focused on cross-departmental collaboration, which supported a culture of continuous improvement.
"This improvement was data focused, targeting students who needed additional support for summer success. It relied on detailed planning and reflection on past programs. MUSD 21st CCLC and Title 1 staff implemented summer learning concepts encouraged by ADE and was based on collaboration between schools' leadership, State & Federal Program staff, Transportation, Facilities, Food Service, students, and their families. The program is a "Five Star," and now award winning, example of MUSD's commitment to deeper learning and innovation," he said.
The winner of this award has operated for at least two years and meets the highest standards of quality in the field to meet the needs of children, youth, and families in their community.
